A while back Adam had to go to Chicago for work. Adam's Boss decided it would be a nice to get Jackie something to say thanks for Daddy working overtime and so he very generously got Jacqueline a gift card to Build a Bear. I have been waiting for the right day to go and use the card. I thought it would be logical to wait until we moved rather than have to move more toys but today was hot and we needed a fun indoor activity so logic went out the window and we headed to the mall. Jacqueline played in the playland (she adores the slide there) for a while until some bigger kids came to play and then we headed down to Build a Bear. I had been thinking there was a cute puppy animal we would make but that was not what Jackie had in mind. She searched through the bins of animals hugging all of them and kissing a few, and was hold three when she reached the end of the animals. I tried to push her towards a bunny she had tucked under her right arm but no she was not letting go of the monkey. So we made a monkey. She did not like having to hand over her monkey to be stuffed, but in the end I finally convinced her to give the girl the monkey and he got stuffed and had a few hearts added to the inside.

Then we were on to clothes. Again she and I had different opinions. I first tried to convince her of an outfit that looked a lot like the one she was wearing, cute shorts plain top but she shook her head no, then I thought maybe a baseball uniform, again no. She kept pointing to the frilly dresses. So I held her up to pick out one and the pink and purple ballet outfit was what she had in mind. (So much for Adam not thinking she is a girly girl.) I tried then for pink tennis shoes to match but she wanted the satin ballet slippers and a bow for the monkeys ear. I really thought she was going to be too young for build a bear, I just didn't think she would get into picking things out or really be excited. Boy was I wrong. Well we had a lot of fun and thankfully the busy morning was rewarded, she took a very long afternoon nap. And then played with the monkey till Daddy came home from work. Thanks Brad and all the people at DSA, Jacqueline had a great day building her monkey and I think she will enjoy it for some time.

A ballet Monkey huh? Glad she had fun! See ya at church tomorrow!
