Pumpkin

Well it may not be Halloween yet but Aunt Kate and Grandma want to make sure you take after you Grandma Jackie and love this holiday.  So today Kate carved her first pumpkin of the year and we tucked you inside.  Too cute, Grandma Jackie would have loved it.

ESCAPE

The swing was once your favorite place to play and sleep, when you first came home from the hospital you were so little we would line it with 2 or 3 blankets for you.  But today you made your escape the pictures speak for themselves.

Pinterest and Playtime

While my mom got me hooked on Pinterest, and right away I found a great idea that had to be completed for your room, so I took the idea of creating your own magnetic board by using an oil drip pan, I painted it with black automotive primer, (my dad used flat black paint to fix all things and it seemed fitting here,)  maybe someday I will paint over it with chalkboard paint and then it could be magnetic and chalk but right now it hangs above your changing table so chalk dust would be a bad thing.

Then I just had to include this picture of you playing with dad today.

Apple Girl

Apple Girl is your newest nickname from Aunt Kate, at one time you were Jack-o-lina then she called you Barfy Smurf, and now Apple Girl.  We went apple picking at Cranes yesterday I am still not sure 40lbs of HoneyCrisps are enough we may have to go again.  But I don't think you will mind you loved pick apples, and you loved sucking on them, I think cool apple made your gums feel good. (Maybe there are teeth in there trying to poke through.)

Cute

After a busy weekend and a late Sunday night due to a concert, we had an off day but I think you are back to your happy self again.

Adam started his new job Monday and so far he seems to be loving it, meanwhile 3 weeks into the school year and I still feel like I am trying to figure out how to make time to do everything.  I think that Guilt is part of motherhood.  When I go to work I feel like I should be home, when I am home I feel like I should be working or cleaning or doing something, but then when I do those things I feel like I should just be playing with you.  Somehow my mind believes I should be able to do it all, but there are not enough hours in the day.  So I am still trying to find the balance of work, home and you.  I think it is already better then when you first came home.  I have learned to let go of control of what gets done in a day, and that sometimes everything but you can wait.  I am sure when I get it all figured out you will be at a different stage and that will throw everything off balance again.

Finally because you are so cute I have entered you into the Fox 17 cutest baby contest, if their photo gallery starts working right I will post a link so family can vote for you to win.

Wet Toes

I kept wondering how your toes got so wet by the end of the day now I have proof of what was happening, I should have guessed, everything goes into your mouth these days. It makes me feel like I need to do a really good job of cleaning the house so that there is nothing dirty you can lick or eat.  At least you are not crawling yet so your range of what can go in your mouth is limited.

We went to Robinettes to get Apples today, just some GingerGolds no HoneyCrisp yet but hopefully in a week or two.  I will try to take pictures when we go.

New School year, new job,

The school year for Zeeland Christian has started and so my first week back has come and gone.  Thanks to Aunt Kate and Aunt Kelly and Oma Jacqueline had a lot of fun while I dealt with computers and logins that still were not working quite right.  It was hard to go back hard to leave Jacqueline, but in the end I think that working 2 days a week this year will be good for my sanity.  It is nice to have a conversation with adults, it is nice to talk to people who talk back, and it is probably good for part of my world to not revolve entirely around Jacqueline.

On the note of new, Adam put in his two weeks notice at Transmatic, (where he has been since we were dating) and he has accepted an offer from Broadview Product Design in Zeeland. Hopefully it means more flexible hours and a new experience.  Right now he designs presses and tooling that make parts, this will switch him to the front end of the design experience and he will actually be designing products you might use in your home.  His first project will be in furniture design. He is very excited. Honestly I am a little nervous I can have trouble trusting God fully with the future; but I know God has a future for us better than the one we dream of for ourselves. “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.” (1Corinthians 2:9).  When I worked for Camp Geneva kids used to sit on the zip deck scarred to jump on the zip line, afraid they would fall and get hurt. I would remind them it was strong enough to support an elephant but fear held them there. Then I would quote Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans to give you hope and future."  I would say to the camper, God has a plan trust him and jump.  Almost every kid jumped, and loved it.  I always felt bad for the few who sat there and finally took off the harness and walked to to scarred to jump. Their fear kept them from a new experience. SO when Adam asked what I thought as much as I am scarred to leave Transmatic a company who has for the most part been very good to us, it is time to trust God and jump.

All in all so much is changing right now in our lives it is hard to find what is the new routine.  But I am sure we will get there in no time.  As for now, I hear you waking up so it's time to stop writing and go play.
