New Shoes

A long time before you were born when it was cold and snowy and I was bored I had attempted to make you shoes, but I followed a standard pattern and well your little feet are not standard baby feet.  Most baby's have little boxes.  Your feet are long and narrow so none of my handmade shoes fit, but truth be told even if they did I made them for cold weather and so they not be of much good to you know anyway.  So I have started trying to make you little sandals. I made a little black and pink pair you wore to church on Sunday but this new pair stays on your feet a lot better, it has denim soles and cute pink polka dot bottoms.  Now to start a red white and blue pair for the fourth of July.

New Blankets

New Blanket from Kim at church.  It's very cute and soft and fuzzy but the best part is where the squares meet there are little fabric rosets that you love to attempt to eat durning tummy time.

New fuzzy blanket from Oma.  You love to fall asleep either on or holding your fuzzy tag blankets.

Sorry I would write more but you just don't feel like napping today so I am afraid I already hear you down the hall

Aunt Fran

We went to visit Aunt Fran today and showed her how to use the computer to check our blog and Abby's and Kate's that way she can stay up to date on all the cute pictures.  Aunt Fran when you see this call me so that I know you remembered how to check the blogs.

Jackie Flower

This was Jacqueline's present from Uncle Jim and Aunt Sharron a Jackie Flower and a Guardian Angel. When Aunt Sharon was born, Grandma Audrey planted a Rose of Sharon, and so it seems fitting that we would now plant a Jackie flower. I can not wait to watch it bloom this summer I will have to post more pictures as the little plant grows.  Just like I post pictures of you as you have grown.

Not feeling well

I am not sure what but something has defiantly upset your tummy tonight.  It has been a long fussy day, but for the day you were ok, not in pain just demanding.  Unfortunately, that changed when I went to get dinner and left you home with Daddy. You went from Sleeping to Screaming.  And not I hungry or I am wet screaming but the loudest worst sound I have ever heard you make.  Rocking...Cuddling...Diaper Change...Eating...Indoors...Outdoors...Sitting...Standing...Bouncing...NOTHING made you feel better.  Finally sitting in the basement with with your dad rocking/bouncing you and rubbing your tummy while I rubbed your head you finally calmed down.  Several dirty diapers and soaked burp clothes later I think you are finally feeling better but even know I can hear you hiccuping as you sleep in your crib down the hall. What I would not give to take away your pain.  And thank goodness for your dad, I still have tears running down my face, but your dad can stay clam through it all.  Without him on nights like this I think that by the time you felt better I would be so worked up and up set that we would never get calm.  Tomorrow is fathers day.  You should know you have an amazing dad.

The picture is from a few days before, it just seems nicer to post a picture of you smiling not screaming.

Talking

Although I don't know what you are saying you have been talking a lot.  Your little coos and squeaks and great big smiles make my day. You talked to Aunt Kelly on Monday, and Aunt Sharron yesterday but were silent and sleepy for Oma today, but of course the moment she walked out the door there you were awake and squeaking.  I am smart enough to know that you don't know words yet but we read books every morning and we talk all day long... while I talk, it's a little one sided most days, but as you begin to make more happy noises I wonder how long till the first time you say mommy, and how long after that till the first time you talk back.  I hope that is a long ways away.  Although I wish you could tell me what you want or why you are in tears sometimes, I am petrified of the day that you sulk to your room slam the door and yell "that's not fair", or worse yet "I hate you!"
I know a silly thing to be thinking about but it is fathers day this week and as part of his sunday sermon Grandpa asked what did he do well and what would we change about what he did as a dad.  My dad was great he always made time for me and always listened to me talk.  Regardless of how busy he got he always made time for me, like the days he would 'accidentally' drive past the road to south elementary school and we would go get pop and candy and talk, or the days that he were soo busy he had to spend Saturdays at Seminary but if I came along he made time to get hot-dogs and sit at Kolen park or to visit the art store.  Grandpa always made me feel like I was special because of the time he spent with me. It was not the things that we did during these times but the conversations that we had, he would listen to all the worries and joys of day and shared in these with me.  I knew no matter what happened I could talk about it with him, no matter what problem I had with Kate and Kelly or at school I knew he would listen and that alone made all problems seems smaller and made my whole world better.
I hope I am as good of a listener as Grandpa is, I hope I always find time for you the way my dad made time for me, and I hope I can give advice half as good as he did.  But I am glad to know that I am not the only one listening to you talk.  You have your dad and I, Grandma, Grandpa, Oma, Opa, Aunts and Uncles who all love you and will listen,  who all care and would love to share in joys and help bear the burdens and sorrow of you life too.
But most important you should know that you have a heavenly father who loves you and is listening to your prayers.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Be joyful always; pray continually;give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.  God hears your coos and squeaks now, he understands them even when I don't, and he will hear your prayers when you are older, remember he is always there always listening to you talk.

Length 24 inches   90 %
Weight 10.1 lbs    20%
Head Circumference 15 inches 50%

Three shots and a nasty syrup to drink at the doctors office but well worth it to avoid all those sicknesses.  But I am glad that her screaming did not last long and she has spent most of the day sleeping

Happy Girl

I love how happy you are first thing in the morning, Almost anything will make you smile!
And on a happy note for me you slept in your crib for part of morning nap.  You do great at sleeping in your crib at night but for some reason during the day you want to sleep in the car seat, boppy, swing or my arms.  I love holding you while you sleep but I thing it's probably best to get you adjusted to nap time in your bed.

work

So here I sit, my second week back at work listening to a lecture about how important it is for teachers to be mentors to kids because their parents are not around, because they work too much.  It seems unfair to sit and listen to this at work instead of just getting to be at home with you.  As if I was not feeling guilty enough about being at work, work has to rub it in more.   Last week was so hard to be away from you, and yet I knew you were with family and even at work with me a day.  It cemented in my mind how hard it is to be a working mom.  I am so thrilled that I will only be at work two days a week next year and I can be home with you.  I miss you, miss reading stories, miss our afternoon walk, and right now I really miss nap time.  Thank goodness the school year is almost over.  This photo is from Memorial day but I still thought I would include it.
